Behaviour of retrofited precast UHPC and Ni-Ti SMA column-to-foundation connection with CFRP wrapping layers

چکیده
Four precast column-to-foundation connection specimens, previously tested under lateral reversed cyclic loading and constant axial load (first-stage tests), were repaired with Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) layers in the areas where plastic hinges had formed retested same loads (second-stage tests). The columns originally manufactured ultrahigh-performance concrete (UHPC) high stee-fibre content (volumetric steel/fibre ratio 1.9%). steel bars replaced superelastic Ni-Ti SMA that crossed column/foundation interface. Two types of between column foundation analysed: protruding smooth pocket (SP). specimens subjected to level relative both first second-stage tests. objective was determine whether initial performance UHPC reinforced connections against can be restored after a seismic event by means simple economic retrofitting. effectiveness number strengthening CFRP also studied (two or three wrapping layers) for each type. main results PB SP respect original respectively: an average strength capacity loss 8% 19%, displacement ductility increase 42%, dissipated energy 48% 53% higher stiffness 9.5% 21% lower. No significant differences observed repairs done two layers.

Performance of the Modified Precast Beam to Column Connection Placed on a Concrete Corbel
Precast concrete structures in Iran are generally designed as continuous columns with hinged beams, thereby making them simple frames. In this system in site show walls in two directions of buildings guaranteed lateral resisting system. However, in order to obtain a seismic resisting frame, the connection between beam and column should be moment resisting and ductile, allowing the formation of ...

supervisors play an undeniable role in training teachers, before starting their professional experience by preparing them, at the initial years of their teaching by checking their work within the proper framework, and later on during their teaching by assessing their progress. but surprisingly, exploring their attributes, professional demands, and qualifications has remained a neglected theme i...

Residual drifts after severe earthquakes interrupt serviceability of buildings. Retrofitting of such buildings is in many cases very difficult and consumes lots of time and money. Recently, there are some attempts to develop the seismic design procedures to not only satisfy life safety criteria but also lead to more economical buildings. One of these modern methods of improving seismic performa...

In this research, tribological behavior of Ti-Ni-P intermetallic coatings on titanium substrates have been investigated under dry reciprocating conditions. Hardness profile testing results exhibit that high surface hardness has been attained and static indentation result shows that the intermetallic coating has better adhesion strength than the conventional ceramic coatings. In this respect, th...
